Welding Procedure Qualification Records (WPQR)

Welding Procedure Qualification Records (WPQR) are the documented values of the welding test.

"Welding procedures include instructions for welders to follow in order to produce acceptable welds. These procedures are developed in accordance with welding codes or standards and require weld samples to be produced, inspected, and tested in order to establish the qualification.

Welding procedures are usually divided into two categories: the Welding Procedure Qualification Record (WPQR), which provides the range of approval and the Welding Procedure Specification (WPS), which provides the welding parameters.

Below are a few of the more common welding standards:

BS EN ISO 15614

This British Standard (BS) specifies and qualifies welding procedures for metallic materials. It applies to production welding, repair welding, and build-up welding.

ASME

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC)

is one of the most well-known regulations for boilers and pressure vessel equipment.

This code establishes rules governing the design, fabrication and inspection of boilers, pressure vessels and other equipment.

BS EN ISO 14732: Welding personnel - Approval of welding operators and weld setters

This standard specifies requirements for the approval of welding operators for fusion welding and resistance weld setters for fully mechanised and automatic welding processes of metallic materials.

SummerTech NDT Ltd. meets all these requirements and can, therefore, issue universally accepted qualifications, giving you complete peace of mind.

Welder Qualifications

EN ISO 9606: Qualification testing of welders

The welder approval/ Qualification test is carried out to demonstrate that the welder has the necessary skill to produce a satisfactory weld under the conditions used in production, as detailed in the approved WPS, Work Instruction or industry standard following a welding procedure.

When successful it will then lead to the welders certification.

Systematic qualification test specifying requirements for the qualification testing of welders for fusion welding of steels.
